Abstract

Patrick McDonough, the 2-year-old Wells boy who had a bone-marrow transplant to treat a rare form of leukemia, has started to improve after being taken off some of the antibiotic medicine he was on. McDonough, who suffers from acute myelofibrosis, had been diagnosed with graft-vs.-host disease, and three weeks ago was near death. The boy might be discharged from the hospital in a few weeks.
