Abstract

The 13th annual Deering Oaks Family Festival opened yesterday, the last time the event will be held in Deering Oaks park. The Chamber of Commerce in April announced that this would be the last year it sponsored the festival, but Keith L. Citrine, the festival organizer, said next year's festival is already scheduled. City officials this spring called for reduced use of the park's grassy areas during the festival, citing soil compaction problems caused by the number of people in attendance. Details.
