Abstract

In a non-binding referendum yesterday, 81 percent of the residents and non-resident property owners of Biddeford Pool voted to ask the state Legislature to allow a binding vote on the issue of secession. Biddeford Pool residents for years have complained that city government gives them little return for the taxes on their property, which accounts for nearly nine percent of the city's total $1 billion in assessed property valuation.
