Abstract

Officials from LaPlata, Argentina, a city of 545,000 near Buenos Aires, yesterday signed an agreement with Gov. McKernan to extend a business-development partnership with Maine. LaPlata Mayor Julio Cesar Alak noted the role of Maine government in job training and retraining, and said Maine officials inspired officials in LaPlata to advance a pilot worker training program into a full-fledged school. The agreement is an outgrowth of Gov. McKernan's South American trade mission earlier this year. Details.
