Abstract

Thirteen petitioners earlier this month filed a petition with the Maine Public Utilities Commission seeking a review of Nynex company revenues. The petition asserts that Nynex collections from toll calls justify a rate reduction, and that local service customers of Nynex are effectively subsidizing other Nynex services. The petitioners allege that Nynex has installed more fiber optic cable than it needs for telephone service, and that the company will be able to provide video services over cables purchased and installed with money from toll and local customers.
