Abstract

Yarmouth's Economic Development Advisory Committee is reviewing a plan designed to make the town more attractive to commercial development. The draft plan suggests that the Planning Board become more flexible, that tax increment financing be used as a means to attract development and that an alternative dispute resolution panel be created. Yarmouth's pursuit of economic development became more urgent after the Central Maine Power Co. generating plant on Cousin's Island decreased in value, reducing the utility's share of the town's budget from one-half to one-third or less.
