Abstract

An average temperature of 72.4 degrees made July 1994 the warmest July on record, beating out the previous record of 71.1 degrees for July 1952. The record-setting warmth was due mostly to the warm nights rather than hot days. July's average overnight low of 62.5 degrees was the warmest on record, beating the previous mark of 61.9 degrees in July 1973.
