Abstract

The state yesterday sponsored a reception at a convention center in Portland with the intent of attracting and retaining primary-care doctors in Maine's rural areas, 35 of which are considered medical shortage areas by the government. Participants heard presentations on residency rotations at Maine hospitals and rural clinics, and representatives from regional schools were on hand to discuss admissions and programs. Details.
