Abstract

The state yesterday amended its lawsuit against Clifford Shattuck, the Lincolnville motel owner charged with threatening two Israeli tourists. The amended complaint said that Shattuck in 1990 threatened two men of Hispanic origin, and in a separate incident in 1991 assaulted and detained a New York woman of Polish ethnic origin. The lawsuit, filed two weeks ago by Maine Attorney General Michael Carpenter, seeks a $10,000 civil penalty and a restraining order barring Shattuck from harassing anyone else. Details.
