Abstract

Molly, a 2-year-old yellow Labrador, yesterday was introduced as the Portland Fire Department's first arson dog. State Farm Insurance Cos. recently paid to train Molly and handler Lt. Fred LaMontagne as part of a national program to help fire departments improve arson detection. Yellow Labradors are often chosen as arson dogs because of their temperament and loyalty. Molly's brother is working with state fire marshal investigators in Nebraska.
