Abstract

Maine communities that want to hold onto their 1919-style radial wave street lamps are being offered replicas by Central Maine Power Co. (CMP). The old-fashioned lamps have high energy and maintenance costs, with comparatively low light, and CMP has been urging that they be replaced with more efficient modern lamps. The replicas, made by Pemco Corp. of Norristwon, Penn., have the porcelian-lined cap of the old style lamps with an energy-efficient, high-pressure sodium light source. Details.
