Abstract

State wildlife officials have downsized a plan to protect the piping plover and the least tern, two endangered shorebirds. The new proposal drops some areas that would have been termed off-limits in the original proposal, and prohibits foot traffic in some shoreland areas. The areas to be affected by the proposal are in ten southern Maine communities from Georgetown to Ogunquit. Details.
