Abstract

The South Portland Police Department has not yet replaced Chief Robert M. Schwartz, who retired August 5, but Acting Chief Boyce A. Sanborn has made a number of personnel changes and an effort to be more responsive to the news media. The original list of 34 applicants for Schwartz' position has been narrowed to five candidates, and City Manager Jerre Bryant yesterday said he may choose a new chief by next week. Details.
