Abstract

The federally funded, nonprofit Rural Health Centers, based in Manchester, is operating a mobile medical office that has to date seen around 1,100 seasonal farm workers in Down East Maine. Many of the 35 people who visit the $168,000 mobile office each day are Mexican-Americans or Micmacs from Canada. Fees are based on an ability to pay. After providing service to the blueberry rakers, the truck will travel to Aroostook County for the broccoli harvest.
