Abstract

The federal Rural Development Administration yesterday notified U.S. senator George J. Mitchell that it will give the town of Limerick $500,000 in emergency aid to drill new wells. Mitchell asked for the funds in April, after arsenic was discovered in wells in the town, and the funding became even more urgent this week after it was discovered that the town water system was contaminated with toxics as a result of the June 10 fire at the Old Limerick Mill.
