Abstract
Perma Treat Corp. of Connecticut last week announced that it would take over the former Forster Manufacturing mill in Mattawamkeag, and will form a new company, Aroostook and Bangor Resources Inc., to make railroad ties. It also proposes burning creosote-treated railroad ties for fuel, something that the Maine Department of Environmental Protection believes is a first for the state. The Springfield Terminal Railway Co., owned by the father of Perma Treat President David A. Finks, has proposed making Mattawamkeag a transportation hub for northern Maine. Details.
