Abstract

Isabella Fogg of Calais, a Civil War nurse who organized an effort to deliver supplies to Maine troops, will be honored Saturday at her grave in Forest City Cemetery. Fogg's work was so important that she was recognized by the state Legislature and by Col. Joshua L. Chamberlain and Gen. Ulysses S. Grant. Fogg helped to organize the Maine Camp Hospital Association, but was virtually forgotten after her death in 1873 at age 49. Details.
