Merle Nelson, 59, of Falmouth Foreside, and James A. Soule, 40, of South Portland, have been named to a five-person state committee to study the issues of school funding and governance. The committee by law has five months to make its recommendations, and even though yesterday was the deadline for appointments the other three members of the committee have yet to be named. Details.
