Abstract

Old Orchard merchants are planning an advertising campaign for next year that will be more directed toward New Englanders than to Canadians. Because of the decline in the value of the Canadian dollar, it now takes a $1.40 in Canadian money to equal one American dollar. This precipitous decline has lessened the attractiveness of an Old Orchard Beach vacation for the French Canadians who have been visiting the town for generations.
