Abstract

CarTest, Maine's automobile emissions testing program, yesterday was suspended until March 1. The six-month suspension, during which the state will encourage voluntary testing by cutting the test fee and the amount motorists must spend on repairs, will give the state and test operators Systems Control time to make improvements to the program. Systems Control has agreed to focus on emphasizing the importance of customer relations, and will retrain employees so they do a better job of handling vehicles during testing. Details.
