Cary Veilleux of Gardiner, a former Freeport town councilor, on Wednesday said that he pleaded no contest last week to charges of falsifying evidence because he did not have enough money to fight the 2-year-old case. Veilleux in October 1992 reported vandalism to a pickup truck and a dump truck, but police believe he caused the damage to the vehicles. Details.
