Abstract
The U.S. Court of Appeals last month ruled that Maine's milk tax is unconstitutional, threatening the source of the state's contribution to the federal Farmers' Market Nutrition Program. The milk tax provided funds to the Women and Infant Children's program, which helps provide fresh fruit and vegetables to nearly 10,000 low-income families in the state. WIC had been using around $25,000 of the milk tax as the state's match to a $65,000 federal grant. Details.
