Abstract

University of Maine at Orono President Frederick E. Hutchinson yesterday announced that the average score on the Scholastic Aptitude Test for incoming students at the school is 1004. The average score is 121 points above the state average, and 102 points above the national average. The university expects 1,534 first-year students when classes begin next week, a decrease of 311 from last year. Overall enrollment is projected at 10,817, a 4.6 percent decrease.
