Abstract

Patrick Coombs, 22, of Portland, yesterday pleaded guilty to murder for the August 21, 1993, shooting death of Daniel Reynolds. Coombs agreed to the state's offer of a 40-year sentence in exchange for the guilty plea and disclosing the whereabouts of the murder weapon, a .38-caliber handgun that Coombs said he tossed into the Fore River near the Interstate 295 overpass. Reynolds, 23, a father of two, grew up with Coombs in Portland, but the two men had a falling out before the shooting. Details.
