Abstract
Rite Aid Corp. of Pennsylvania, responding to Federal Trade Commission concerns about anti-trust violations, has agreed to give up some pharmacy business in Maine and New Hampshire to complete its $50 million acquisition of LaVerdiere's Enterprises Inc. of Waterville. Rite Aid, with 2,500 stores in 23 Eastern states, operates the nation's largest chain of drugstores, registering $3.8 billion in sales in 1993. The sale of LaVerdiere's involves 72 stores in Northern New England, but not the company's Winslow distribution center. Details.
