Abstract

The U.S. Department of Commerce's Economic Development Administration has approved the creation of the Southern Maine Economic Development District, the fifth such district in Maine and one of 300 development districts nationwide. The district is comprised of York and Cumberland counties, and its creation means the 58 municipalities in the two counties can apply for planning grants, revolving loans and up to 90 percent support for some public works projects.
