Abstract

The U.S. Department of Defense has not approved a $150,000 appropriation for the Maine National Guard, leaving the Maine Drug Enforcement Agency's helicopter marijuana searches in jeopardy for this summer. Last year, agents found 13,079 marijuana plants in the state, around half of them by using low-level helicopter flights. Current plans call for a state police plan to assist agents on the ground in locating the illegal plants. Details.
