Abstract

Central Maine Power Co. (CMP) and Alternative Energy Inc. of Bangor have reached an agreement under which Alternative Energy will take its Ashland wood-powered plant off line for up to five years until business conditions warrant its return to service. CMP will pay $9.5 million for maintenance, taxes and capital costs instead of paying $16.5 million for the electricity produced by the plant.
