Abstract

Residents of Gray and New Gloucester last week voted for a fourth time on a budget for School Administrative District 15, and were again unable to resolve the issue of the amount of local tax funds to be raised beyond the state minimum. A fifth vote is scheduled for October 4. Rapid growth in some communities in the state has set the stage for school budget battles similar to the one in SAD 15, and dissatisfaction with taxes and public education are fueling the problem.
