Abstract

Repair costs at the Augusta Mental Health Institute are estimated at $12.2 million, fueling discussions about constructing a new facility. One of the needs at AMHI is a $1.5 million upgrade of the fire alarm and sprinkler system. The state Legislature's Human Resources Committee has informally endorsed closing AMHI and the Bangor Mental Health Institute and building two new small hospitals.
