Abstract

Dr. Michael Wise, a research mineralogist with the National Museum of Natural History at the Smithsonian Institution in Washington, D.C., this summer is leading a group of scientists studying a crop of pegmatite at Hole-in-the-Ground Mine in Mechanic Falls. Wise has made a specialty of studying Maine's pegmatite deposits, and has been coming to the state for five years. Details.
