Abstract
The Penobscot Indian tribe yesterday filed suit in federal court against Key Bank of Maine; the law firm of Bernstein, Shur, Sawyer and Nelson; and others, claiming it was swindled out of millions of dollars because of its investment in Schiavi Homes, a mobile home retailer. The tribe paid $5 million for a limited partnership in Schiavi in 1986, and the company failed several years later. The suit seeks $15 million, and also names Consumers Water Co., SHC Corp., Burlington Homes of New England, John Schiavi, John Palmer, Palmer Management Co. and Palmer Development Co.
