Abstract

The University of Southern Maine has withdrawn recognition from the local chapter of the Phi Mu Delta fraternity because of several incidents over the Labor Day weekend. The revocation will last until August 1997. A member of the fraternity's national alumni authority yesterday said the national had revoked the charter of the local chapter. Gorham police chief Edward Tolan said at least two other fraternities are also in serious troubl and that police have made a number of arrests for drunken-driving and have responded to several noise complaints.
