Abstract

State Mental Health Commissioner Sue Davenport yesterday defended her department's treatment and services for the mentally ill, and said that the state has spent $4 million over the past four years on the administration of the Augusta Mental Health Institute consent decree. Davenport said her department is developing a budget to bring the state into full compliance with the consent decree by 1997. Superior Court justice Bruce Chandler on September 7 found the state was not in compliance with the decree. Details.
