Abstract

State officials are trying to rush a bill through the Legislature that would allow companies investing $5 million and creating 100 jobs over a two-year period to deduct up to $500,000 annually from their state income tax bills. Under the current law, a company must invest $5 million and create 200 jobs in a one year period to be eligible for a tax deduction. Rainbow Rug in Sanford and General Electric in Bangor would benefit immediately under the new standards. Details.
