Abstract

Jeffrey W. Jones, a Scarborough attorney representing the National Rifle Association, and William Knowles, the attorney for the Portland Housing Authority, yesterday presented to the Maine Supreme Judicial Court their arguments on the NRA's appeal of the PHA's 18-year ban on the possession of firearms. Knowles said the ban is a reasonable regulation designed to protect the tenants of the authority's 10 housing projects. If the ban is upheld, the state's 23 housing agencies will be free to restrict firearms in their projects. Details.
