Abstract

Jeffrey A. Thaler, an environmental attorney in Portland, and Richard Barringer of the University of Southern Maine's Muskie Institute yesterday charged that the state's gubernatorial candidates have done a disservice to Maine's residents by making misleading statements about air pollution. The two were referring to statements made by the candidates at a televised debate in Bar Harbor. Independent gubernatorial candidate Angus King, who received the most criticism, said Thaler and Barringer were acting as surrogates for Democratic candidate Joseph Brennan. Details.
