Abstract

Cumberland County Sheriff's Department chief deputy Dewey Martin yesterday said that his department made a serious mistake in classifying Michael Willings as a trusty. Willings, 24, of Portland, and Richard Corbett, 33, a transient, on Wednesday escaped from the old jail on Federal Street, and the men were captured separately yesterday. Willings was jailed in June and classified minimum security, and while in jail was indicted on two Class A robbery charges, which should have resulted in his classification being changed. Details.
