Abstract

National Semiconductor Corp. yesterday dedicated its new $77 million computer-chip manufacturing unit in South Portland, which is expected to reach full capacity next spring. The fabrication unit was dedicated to former U.S. senator Margaret Chase Smith, in recognition of her commitment to quality and public service. National Semiconductor has designated the site as one of three centers of excellence worldwide. Details.
