Abstract

Maine political observers say the state's four-way race for governor might be narrowing to a contest pitting Democrat Joseph Brennan against independent Angus King. The assessment is based on a widely-held view that Republican candidate Susan Collins is dropping back, despite her claims that she and King are running neck and neck within striking distance of Brennan. Independent candidate Jonathan Carter has never been seen as a serious contender in the race. Details.
