Abstract

Students and dignitaries at Bowdoin College yesterday took part in a ceremony during which a time capsule was lowered into the newel post of the staircase of the school's new $4.8 million student center. The capsule was placed in a 12-foot-deep hollow area within the post, and is meant to provide an unusual link to the college's bicentennial celebration, which took place over the past year.
