Abstract

The Cumberland County Sheriff's Department, which is trying to fill 19 positions at the new Cumberland County Jail, has relaxed its job requirements for guards. Propective guards previously had to have at least a two-year college degree, but the county will now accept candidates with four years of criminal justice experience. The state Department of Corrections this week issued a report that criticized supervision at the $27 million facility. Details.
