Abstract

Paul Roberts, 47, shot and killed his wife, Linda, 42, and then set his house on fire and killed himself with a gunshot to the head because of despondency caused by their deteriorating relationship. Before Roberts carried out the murder-suicide he wrote a note for relatives and moved some personal belongings for his family to remember him. This was the state's fifth murder-suicide this year; last year Maine had only two-murder suicides.
