Abstract

Steven G. Ward, Maine's public advocate, yesterday said that the state Public Utilities Commission (PUC) will not approve plans by Westbrook and other municipalities to form municipal utilities because it would be unfair to Central Maine Power Co. (CMP) customers who have no alternative energy source. Marjorie Marcotte, assistant administration director of the PUC, said Ward does not speak for her office on the issue, and that the PUC has not made a statement concerning the proposed municipal utilties.
