Abstract
Corrections officials yesterday staged a three-hour search at the new Cumberland County Jail and netted around 50 cigarettes, which are banned at the smoke-free facility. State regulations call for lock-downs at least four times a year. Cumberland County Sheriff's Department chief deputy Dewey A. Martin said the media was notified about yesterday's lockdown because it was the first at the new jail and because of criticism of jail operations. Details.
