Abstract

Corporators at Brighton Medical Center this week approved a letter of intent to become part of the foundation that runs Maine Medical Center, meaning the two hospitals agree in principle to a merger. Maine Medical Center's board of trustees approved the merger agreement last month, and the two hospitals will now begin to make internal changes and seek state and federal approval of their plans. The two hospitals hope to create one integrated health-care system, with fewer beds and more emphasis on primary care. Details.
