Abstract

On September 2, 624 students and 66 staff members moved into the former National Guard armory at 722 Stevens Avenue in Portland, which is serving as the temporary headquarters of the Lincoln Middle School while it is renovated. Originally, opposition to the move was fierce, but it has drained away since the move was made. The armory now houses 24 classrooms, a gym and a cafeteria, and 12 modular classrooms stand in rows on the lawn. Details.
