Abstract

Elwin Martin, 62, of Portland, on Monday was arrested by Biddeford police and charged with drug trafficking and operating a prostitution ring from his art gallery. Police chief Roger P. Beaupre said a search of the Main Street gallery yielded evidence of prostitution and a collection of pornographic material, some of which could include children. Martin, an independent candidate for Cumberland County sheriff, yesterday said he was framed by supporters of Sheriff Wesley Ridlon, his opponent in the November 8 election. Details.
