Abstract
Cumberland County sheriff Wesley Ridlon has hired Ralph Nichols, the state's jail inspector, to improve operations at the new Cumberland County Jail. Nichols, on leave from the Maine Department of Corrections, will be paid $60 per hour, up to a maximum of $10,000 a month. State corrections commissioner Donald Allen last month released a report on the new jail that criticized how guards keep track of inmates, the monitoring of outdoor recreation yards and overall jail supervision.
