Abstract

Navy officials at the Brunswick Naval Air Station and the base's civilian union are negotiating a contract that incorporates a teaming concept similar to the one adopted in August by the unions at Bath Iron Works. Teaming involves breaking down traditional union-management tensions, and allows union members to move beyond narrow job descriptions. The move toward teaming by the Navy follows an executive order from President Clinton urging the public sector to adopt the approach. Details.
